Getting Ready On Your Wedding Morning, Do’s and Don’ts

How To Make Sure Your Wedding Morning Is Calm And Relaxed

Dear Bride-to-be! I hope this post will help you to make your wedding day morning runs smoothly and stress-free.

Beauty professionals, such as makeup artists and hairstylists are the first vendors who arrive on the morning of the wedding day. We have worked with hundreds of brides before, and we can tell that each of them is unique and different, but we always see some small mistakes that could have been avoided. I get it, most likely this will be the first time you are planning a wedding, so you don’t know exactly what to expect on the morning of your wedding day. That’s why I am here to help you! No need to stress out about anything, if you follow these steps you will have a relaxed, and stress-free wedding day morning. 🙂 You just need to relax and enjoy it!

DO’S

We Highly Recommend Doing These Things In The Morning Of The Wedding:

The bridal party arrives 15 minutes before beauty services begin
If your bridal party is getting make-up and hair services done, we recommend that they arrive at least 15 minutes before the beauty services begin. That will give them enough time to get ready and get into those slippers and robes, which will help them stay on schedule.

Have the bridal party robes/slippers ready
Just make sure that everything is ready to start the day in the morning. It helps with the schedule I mentioned above.

Provide breakfast/snacks and beverages for your bridal party and wedding vendors
We all know that nobody likes to be “hangry”. But seriously, it will be a long morning getting everyone ready and it is important to have some breakfast, water, juice, and coffee available for your bridesmaids, as well for your wedding vendors. Personally, we do not require it but it is always a nice gesture to offer these to your vendors too. Especially, since most likely we will be spending at least 4-5 hours with you.

Let the wedding coordinator handle the vendors
This is a must-have to do! Make sure you have a person in charge to handle all the details on the wedding day! You won’t have time for that, plus you don’t want to be stressed out trying to coordinate with each vendor. That’s a big No-no! /Our recommended vendor list is HERE if you haven’t found a wedding planner/day of coordinator yet./

Have all the details ready for the photographer
This is very important because of timeline purposes. Usually, when the photographer arrives you are getting your makeup or hair done. You don’t have time to gather all the accessories and details for the photographer. Make sure that everything is organized and all in one place before you start getting your makeup and hair done.

Read any letters/ notes before getting makeup services done
We all know that weddings are emotional. There will be a lot of happy tears and moments going on. We can only suggest reading all the letters and notes before getting your makeup done, so that way the makeup stays on longer. The makeup will be long-lasting, and water-resistant but just don’t test it before even the ceremony begins. 🙂

Have a speaker and a playlist ready to set you in a good mood
We love a good wedding day playlist! It makes the whole getting-ready process more fun and it will help you to feel excited and more relaxed. I created a Spotify playlist for our brides that you can find HERE

DON’TS

We Do Not Recommend Doing These Things In The Morning Of The Wedding!

Don’t Let your bridal party run errands/shopping/coffee trips while they are on schedule of getting services done by the makeup artist/ hairstylist
This is very crucial in order to keep the timeline and make sure that everyone will be done with the makeup and hair services by the desired finish time.

Don’t steam dresses, or let your bridal party steam anything on the morning of the wedding.
Okay, for this one, just imagine your bridesmaid just got her makeup done looking beautiful, and she starts steaming dresses and gets super sweaty from the steam. Melting the makeup basically. (Yes, we have seen it before, ugh.) We understand that someone needs to get the job done, and we just recommend letting your bridesmaids handle it, BUT have them do that first thing in the morning! Before she is getting her makeup and hair done.

Don’t go last for both makeup and hair. It is not possible for time purposes.
It is just not possible. We like to have 2 hours scheduled for the bride’s makeup and hair and we put her spot closer to the desired-finish time, but she still needs to start earlier to get her makeup or hair done first and after the other service. We don’t like working at the same time, as it can be uncomfortable for both the artists and the bride. We like to have our space. 🙂 Please trust your beauty professionals when it comes to the timeline. Especially when you hire two different companies for makeup and hair services make sure they communicate with each other and they create a timeline that works for both the makeup artist and hairstylist and they don’t overlap the bridal services. When you book both makeup and hair services with us we can guarantee that everything will run smoothly when it comes to the timeline. Plus, our beauty professionals work together all the time which is a huge plus as they work together very efficiently and it creates a calm environment.

Don’t create your own makeup and hair services timeline.
Again, just trust your beauty professionals when it comes to creating the makeup and hair timeline. You might think 15 minutes will be enough per service, but most professionals need at least 40-45 minutes per person. It really depends on each artist/stylist. When we provide the services we reserve enough time for each client to make sure they are not getting rushed and they are all happy and satisfied with their makeup and hairstyle. 🙂

Don’t put names to the assigned makeup/hair spots that were sent out by the makeup artist/hairstylist
This is the one that creates always so much confusion. Although, it can be helpful and it is a great thought. Sometimes might work perfectly, but based on our experience it is very unnecessary. There is always that one bridesmaid who runs to the other room to grab something/forgot something or is late that would be the next on the schedule. Then you would think you make the morning run smoothly with this but the actual opposite will happen. The other note about this is that we create the time slots example 40 minutes per person in our case, but sometimes we finish in 35 minutes and we are ready to take the next person. Not every service will be exactly 40 minutes long.

On a last note: Make sure you book an experienced beauty team for your wedding that will handle all the timing perfectly and create a great experience for your wedding morning. It is super important as you think about it, you will be spending your morning, at least a few hours, with your beauty professionals. That few hours will set the whole mood for the rest of the day.

XoXo,
Ivett
